People who are 65 years or older are more than twice as likely to end up in the emergency department because of an ADE. While many medicines can cause an ADE, a few drugs are most often responsible for creating an emergency situation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anticoagulants, also known as blood thinners<\/li>\n<li>Diabetes medications such as insulin<\/li>\n<li>Opioids, which are used to treat pain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mountain Pacific works with health care professionals to support medication safety and prevent ADEs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-simple su-spoiler-icon-plus spoilertitle23 su-spoiler-closed\" data-anchor=\"spoilertitle23\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span><strong>Preventing Opioid-Related ADEs<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/opioids\/\">According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services<\/a>, more than 130 people die every day from opioid-related drug overdoses.
