Catch Up on Your Jump Start Homework

May 30, 2017

Hey all you ASP team mates! I know some of you have been joining us on our Jump Start webinars and working along in the Jumpstart workbook. If you are new to the Jump Start Stewardship group, (or have just been too busy to do your homework), this is a review of the homework that has been assigned so far.

You will want to download the Jump Start Stewardship workbook (Microsoft Excel version) from our website. All homework assignment will use the templates and instructions in this workbook. The “tabs” referred to in the homework are located at the bottom of the Excel workbook.

From the Jump Start webinar on 4/26, the following homework was assigned to help you identify your leadership, key stakeholders and team members:

  1. Identify key stakeholders for your antimicrobial stewardship plan
    1. Complete tabs titled:
      1. Stakeholder ID (stakeholder identification worksheet)
      2. Stakeholder 2 (stakeholder engagement/efforts worksheet)
      3. Stakeholder 3 (stakeholder benefit analysis worksheet)
  2. Build your stewardship team and identify resources
    1. Complete tabs titled:
      1. Team ID (team identification worksheet)
      2. Committee (ASP committee oversight worksheet)
      3. Resource Needs (resource needs assessment worksheet)

From the Jump Start webinar on 5/17, the following homework was assigned to help you determine the current state of antibiotic use and clinical infections in your facility and help you create data to help determine an intervention that is right for your facility:

  1. Current state assessment
    1. Complete tabs titled:
      1. Current State (current state assessment worksheet)
      2. Core Elements (core elements checklist worksheet)
      3. Infectious Clinical Syndrome (infectious clinical syndrome profile worksheet)
      4. Antibiotic Use Profile (antibiotic use profile worksheet
  2. Select Interventions and targets for implementation
    1. Complete tabs titled:
      1. Intervention feasibility (feasibility of ASP interventions worksheet)
      2. Specific interventions (making your intervention(s) specific worksheet)

Please check out the slide presentations and recordings for past webinars to get more detail on each of the topics. Check out upcoming Jump Start webinars on our Montana ABS Collaborative resources page.
