Did you also know that only 8% of people who set goals for the new year succeed in reaching them?<\/p>\n<p>Creating New Year\u2019s resolutions are easier than sticking to them. So what is the best way to achieve your goals in the new year? Keep them simple. Quit or cut back on smoking, chewing or alcohol. <\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\tSleep more. <\/strong><br \/>\nA lack of sleep can lead to health problems like heart disease, a heart attack, obesity and diabetes. It is recommended you get 7 \u00bd to 8 hours of sleep every night. <\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\tDe-stress.<\/strong><br \/>\nThere is no doubt about it \u2013 stress is unhealthy. Exercise is a good way to de-stress. Another great way to release steam is to close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and let them out slowly. <\/p>\n<p><strong>4.\tExercise. <\/strong><br \/>\nThere is a strong correlation between physical exercise and good health. Make a routine and stick to it, even if it is a five-minute walk. If you have any health conditions that make exercising difficult, talk with your doctor about what options are right for you.  Don\u2019t forget to exercise your mind as well. Crossword puzzles, reading or trying new recipes are good ways to flex your brain\u2019s muscles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.\tEat healthier. <\/strong><br \/>\nThe age-old phrase \u201cyou are what you eat\u201d isn\u2019t just a saying. Proper nutrition is directly tied to your overall health. A healthy diet will help maintain a balanced weight and can reduce health problems.<\/p>\n<p>Share your goals with your spouse, family or friends, or consider joining a social network for support. Facebook has hundreds of online support groups.
