MU: How to kick off Meaningful Use for 2016<\/h1>\n

The 2016 meaningful use reporting period starts on January 1 for all Eligible Professionals and Eligible Hospitals that are beyond their first year of MU. The Modified Stage 2 requirements apply for 2016, but “alternate exclusions” do not. Below is a list of items you will want to handle as soon as the reporting year starts.<\/p>\n

The following configurations should be in place on January 1. For audit purposes, take a screen shot of each as close to January 1 as possible, and confirm your configuration is in place (make sure to include the name of your organization and the current system date in your screen shot).<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Drug-Drug\/Drug-Allergy Alerts<\/li>\n
  2. 5 Clinical Decision Support Rules<\/li>\n
  3. Drug Formulary<\/li>\n
  4. eSecure Messaging (EPs only)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The public health objective is time sensitive as well. You must be actively engaged, or have continual reporting in place with public health agencies\/registries no later than February 28, 2016. Below is the number required –<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. EPs – 2 agencies\/registries<\/li>\n
    2. EHs – 3 agencies\/registries<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Of course, these are just the items you need to address immediately for MU in 2016. To help address all the MU items you will need to work on in 2016, HTS will be having a webinar on February 13 to review all the details and steps to walk you through the MU process for 2016.<\/p>\n
