The new focus of the PI program is to be more flexible and less burdensome for providers and to improve interoperability and patients\u2019 access to their health information.  <\/p>\n<p>The proposed changes to the PI program will <strong>NOT<\/strong> start until reporting year 2019. The high-level, proposed changes for PI will include (starting in 2019):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eligible participants must use 2015 edition of EHR certification <\/li>\n<li>Reporting period will be 90 days<\/li>\n<li>Changes to the clinical quality measure (CQM) sets to align with inpatient quality reporting (IQR) and core measure changes<\/li>\n<li>More emphasis on measures that require interoperability, exchange of health information between providers and patients <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the 2018 reporting period, eligible hospitals and professionals will continue to attest to the same requirements as they did in 2017.
