The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/hcp\/adults\/for-practice\/standards\/assessment.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)<\/a> recommends health care professionals<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ASSESS<\/strong> immunization status at every visit;<\/li>\n<li>strongly <strong>RECOMMEND<\/strong> needed vaccinations;<\/li>\n<li><strong>ADMINISTER<\/strong> vaccinations or <strong>REFER<\/strong> to an immunization provider; <\/li>\n<li><strong>DOCUMENT<\/strong> vaccinations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to following these recommendations, there are a few key steps you can implement to improve vaccination rates in your practice:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Nominate a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.immunize.org\/catg.d\/p2045.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">vaccination coordinator<\/a> in your office to update staff, maintain and protect your vaccine supply and maintain vaccination best practices.<\/li>\n<li>Give your patients a vaccine questionnaire at check-in. <\/li>\n<li>Use presumptive recommendations when discussing vaccinations. This establishes that vaccination is normal and expected. If patients\/parents are hesitant, move into <a href=\"https:\/\/dsiohn098w.mpqhf.org\/QIO\/motivational-interviewing-for-patient-and-family-engagement\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">motivational interviewing<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.immunize.org\/standing-orders\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">standing orders<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Send patient <a href=\"https:\/\/dsiohn098w.mpqhf.org\/QIO\/quality-improvement-tools-resources\/preventive-health-tools-resources\/immunizations-postcards-order-form\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reminder postcards<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Administer vaccinations at the end of the visit.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure vaccinations are tracked accurately in your electronic health record (EHR).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.immunize.org\/guide\/pdfs\/vacc-adults-step7B.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bill appropriately<\/a>. Ensure you are billing for both the vaccine and the vaccine administration using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmfqin.org\/Portals\/0\/Resource Center\/Immunizations\/ROI Calculator for Adult Vaccines.xlsx\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">correct codes<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Mountain-Pacific Quality Health is here to help!
