Registering your New Providers<\/h1>\n

Hey, just a quick reminder that you should begin registering your new providers in preparation for MU attestation. Whether your providers are new to meaningful use (EHR Incentive Program) or just new to your clinic, there is some work you will need to do in order to attest them this year.<\/p>\n

Providers New to Your Clinic (but not to MU)<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you have new providers, who attested to the the Medicare or Medicaid EHR program in the past (with other clinics) here are steps you will want to take (or confirm are completed) for each new provider:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Confirm that they can access their I & A account (Identity and Access Management Account).<\/li>\n
  2. Using their I & A account, they need to set up or verify that the PECOS (Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System) system shows your clinic is identified with their NPI (National Provider Identifier)<\/li>\n
  3. Once steps 1 and 2 are completed, the provider should log into the CMS NLR (National Level Registry), used for both Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive program registrations and make sure your clinic is aligned with their NLR account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Providers New to MU<\/strong><\/p>\n

      If you have providers that have never attested to either the Medicare or Medicaid EHR Incentive programs, you will want to take these steps (or confirm they are completed) for each new provider:<\/p>\n

    1. Set up an I & A account (Identify and Access Management Account)<\/li>\n
    2. Use their I & A account to align your clinic with the provider\u2019s NPI (National Provider Identifier) in PECOS (Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System)<\/li>\n
    3. Create an account in the CMS National Level Registry (NLR) and register them for either the Medicare or Medicaid EHR Incentive program<\/li>\n
    4. If the provider will be attesting to the Medicaid program, you will then also need to register them with your state\u2019s SLR (State Level Registry). (They will not be able to register in their SLR for at least 24 hours after they have completed NLR registration).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Again, I recommend you begin these steps as soon as possible. I have worked with providers in the past who were unable to attest for meaningful use, because their accounts were not set up in time or not set up correctly.<\/p>\n
