EH Task Checklist for 2017 Reporting

Our blog post on 3/24 included a MU checklist combining tasks for both EPs and EHs. This post contains a checklist of tasks exclusively for Eligible Hospitals, for 2017 Modified Stage 2 MU reporting. For the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs, here is an Eligible Hospital checklist of the tasks you might use to help get you through the 2017 reporting year. 2017 EH EHR Incentive Program Tasks for Modified Stage 2:

• Create CMS MU audit folder
• Determine Medicaid EHR program eligibility
• Calculate and document Medicaid Eligibility (10% or greater)
• Confirm EHR version is 2014 (at least)
• Review measure changes for 2017
• Take screenshots confirming EHR configurations (as required for both Medicare/Medicaid programs)
• Choose CQMs (align with other quality programs if possible) (electronic IQR reporting of eCQM counts for Medicare EHR Incentive Program CQM requirements but NOT Medicaid program requirements)
• Run year to date MU and CQM reports/determine MU gap
• Review/verify your EHR workflows and provide training if needed
• “Actively Engage” or confirm ongoing submission for the Public Health measures or determine exclusion
• Perform or Update Security Risk Assessment
• Continue to monitor MU performance and adjust workflows throughout reporting period
• Have at least one patient (per EH) seen during reporting period view, download or transfer health information (for Medicare program) have at least 5% of patients seen during reporting period view, download or transfer info (for Medicaid program)
• Verify NLR/SLR logins and passwords
• Verify EH registration info in NLR and SLR if Medicaid
• Meet MU objectives and CQM requirements
• Attest via NLR and or SLR
• Finalize CMS MU audit folder documentation
• Upgrade to 2015 version of EHR in prep for 2018 reporting
