MU: Are you Actively Engaged in using your Public Health Registry?

July 15, 2016
Written by Patty Kosednar

For Modified Stage 2 of Meaningful Use, EPs must report/take exclusions to 2 out of 3 public health measures, EHs must do 3 out of 4.  If you are not currently reporting data to the required number of registries, and are not eligible for the exclusions, you must be actively engaged with the required number of registries.  The CMS definition of active engagement is:

“Active engagement means that the provider is in the process of moving towards sending “production data” to a public health agency or clinical data registry, or is sending production data to a public health agency or clinical data registry” (there are more details on active engagement on the CMS 2016 spec sheet):

Also, there was a new FAQ provided by CMS on this measure dated 2/16/16 (see blog dated 3/30/16).  If you are unsure about what you need to do on this measure, contact us.
