MIPS 2017 Is in the Books!

Written by Sharon Phelps

The submission period for the 2017 performance year for MIPS is officially closed. 2017 was the initial year for this program, thus a new journey of discovery for everyone. We applaud all of you who worked hard to understand the program and instituted changes and action plans that put you on the path towards reporting successfully. Your efforts are a strong starting point in the move towards value-based payments.

Now that 2017 submission is over, what’s next?

First, you can review your MIPS Preliminary Feedback report by logging into the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) portal via Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM). CMS will be releasing the MIPS Final Feedback report by July 1, 2018.

Second, you can check your eligibility. The participation checker on the qpp.cms.gov website was recently updated with the 2018 eligibility calculations – https://qpp.cms.gov/participation-lookup.

Third, review the 2018 changes. The 2018 final rule released in October and the Balanced Budget Act of 2018 released in February both made some significant changes that may affect your plan for 2018. We will have a review of those changes coming out next week.

Fourth, make an appointment with one of our QPP specialists to develop or review your 2018 action plan. We are here to help and can guide you towards continued success in 2018. Please email us at qualitypaymenthelp@mpqhf.org or visit our QPP Resources page at http://www.mpqhf.org/QIO/qpp-tools-resources/.

Fifth, send us your difficult questions. We know you are busy providing patient care services and all that entails. Let us do the research into those items that are complicated, complex and perplexing!

Email the QPP Help Desk at qpp@cms.hhs.gov or call the QPP Service Center at 1-866-288-8292.

You are also welcome to visit our Mountain-Pacific QPP website for more MIPS details.
