PQRS:  Reporting Mechanisms

July 2, 2016
Written by Sarah Leake

PQRS has several reporting mechanisms for individual eligible professionals and group practices. The chart summarizes the methods available for reporting as Individual or as a Group.  As you can see, all methods that were available in 2015 for reporting are available in 2016. Added, is the GPRO option to report through Qualified Clinical Data Registry. The method and requirements of reporting have limitations based on the group size. Groups are broken out into three sizes with the options available for reporting noted.  In addition the CAHPS survey is required for GPROs of 100 or more.

Some changes in particular for 2016 include –

Individual Measures – There are 281 individual measures available for PQRS reporting with 23 being cross-cutting measures.

Measure Groups – There are a total of 25 Measure Groups to choose from for this method. Three new measure groups were added –  Multiple Chronic Conditions, Cardiovascular Prevention (Million Hearts), and Diabetic Retinopathy.

Group Reporting – The Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) reporting option was added for 2016.  For those choosing the Web Interface Group Reporting Option there are now 18 Measures for reporting for each beneficiary vs. 17 measures in 2015.

Each mechanism has specific requirements for reporting quality measures with some further considerations for reporting as individual or group.  Below are some links with detailed information for your further studies.
